The Queen’s Political Studies DSC is excited to present a full-day POLS Panel Event on January 31 at the newly renovated John Deutsch University Centre (JDUC).
The main panel sessions will take place in Wallace Hall, with a dedicated networking and Q&A space in Polson 201 A+B, designed to foster meaningful conversations between undergraduate students and alumni working across a wide range of fields. This event is built to connect POLS undergraduates with alumni who have taken diverse career paths after graduation, offering students the opportunity to learn about life beyond the classroom, ask honest questions, and gain insight into how a political studies degree can translate into careers in global institutions, law, consulting, public service, and entrepreneurship.
Our speaker lineup includes:
Bob Pickard, Former Global Communications Director of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank
Nicholas Lamp, Former dispute-settlement lawyer at the World Trade Organization
Karina Esmail, Public Sector Operations Consultant at Deloitte
David Chernushenko, Author and former politician
Aidan Tighe, Founder of Mosea and Banana Bar Crawl
The event will run from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with each speaker featured in an hour-long slot (45 minutes of discussion followed by a 15-minute Q&A). Attendance is flexible — students are welcome to attend individual sessions rather than the full day. Some speakers will be joining us for morning sessions only, while others will remain for the networking portions of the day.
A key highlight of the event is the networking session from 12:30–2:00 PM, featuring a special talk by Bob Pickard on personal branding and positioning yourself for competitive jobs, followed by opportunities for informal conversation with speakers. Additional networking opportunities will also take place after 4:00 PM. Lunch will be fully catered, allowing students to stay engaged throughout the day.
We are also proud to partner with LSAT Demon to offer exclusive benefits to attendees: A raffle prize for one lucky participant Free LSAT Demon books for the first 30 ticket purchasers 25% off any LSAT Demon plan for one month for all attendees. Whether you are exploring career options, preparing for law school, or simply curious about where a POLS degree can take you, this event offers a rare opportunity to gain practical insight, build connections, and be inspired by alumni who have navigated diverse and impactful career paths.
